I love and appreciate plants! For the food they give us, for the shelter and beauty they give us and for their ability to bring us healing when we need it! Once I began to learn about the benefits of plants as medicine, it changed my life forever for the better. Today, I choose to live a totally holistic and plant-based lifestyle in terms of my ethical veganism but also with my and my family’s health and well-being (see my available shirts at the bottom of the ABOUT ME page). Holistic Aromatherapy plays a wonderful role within that.
As I have said elsewhere on this site, I am a scent person! I loooooove scent! I love plants and flowers and wood and spices and resins and leaves, and, well, you get the picture. I first discovered essential oils back in 2000when I dove full-on into the worlds of spirituality and holistic healing. and I was in love with them from that moment. While I admit my first purchases and uses of essential oils were based upon only the perfumery and magickal uses, I wanted immediately to learn more about their other uses too. I knew even then I wanted to take an aromatherapy course and become an aromatherapist and the idea went on my “list” (Vegan Chocolatier, Animal Aromatherapist and Herbalist currently populate my list, in case you were curious). Time went by and while I continued to live with, love and learn more about essential oils and aromatherapy, I pursued other modalities but I never forgot about the aromatherapist part. Finally in the summer of 2017 I felt this nudge that the time had finally come. I enrolled in a Clinical Holistic Aromatherapist Certification course and was off running. I realized quickly that the almost two decades of “casual” knowledge I had accrued in using essential oils in my own life was absolutely minimal to what information there is. It was a humbling and exciting time. The course was a year long and after completing the course work, case studies and exams, I received my certificate in the summer of 2018.
Since then I have been working as a Custom Holistic Aromatherapist (which then blossomed into a serious adoration for Botanical Perfumery as well) creating amazing goodies for clients, family and friends. Everything I do is created and customized to fit each person individually in a holistic way. While aromatherapy can be extremely effective in helping with physical, mental and emotional issues (click here to see some things aromatherapy may be helpful for), but it also seems to have the ability to reach the spiritual and energetic levels too. All of that being said, natural does not automatically equal safe and there is a lot to consider when formulating and creating people’s products. Safety DOES MATTER!
When someone books a Custom Holistic Aromatherapy session with me, it begins with a full in-take consultation. I want to know for what and why someone is choosing aromatherapy. I want to know a bit about the person and their life and what is going on in it currently (it’s a holistic process, remember) and what types of products would best fit into their lifestyle. I want to know their medical history and any medications they are taking so I can carefully check for safety and possible contraindications before I formulate the custom blends and products. I want to know what scents the person likes and dislikes because while they are not the most important factor in aromatherapeutic blending, scent obviously plays a role. I do not re-use custom blends created for individual clients for other clients. While certain blends for similar things may be similar based upon the properties of the essential oils for certain reasons, everybody’s blends are formulated from scratch. Products are always ONLY made from plant-derived essential oils, absolutes, resinoids, carrier oils, butters and waxes and are all vegan and cruelty-free with nothing else added. After that, I make the aromatherapy product for the client to pick up (it’s usually ready in a few days at the latest) and then it’s up to them to employ it in their day-to-day. Initial consultations are 60 minutes but after that, follow-ups are done in 30 minutes. I am always up for feedback and in fact find it wonderfully helpful to bettering my practice.
Fees for the Initial Custom Holistic Aromatherapy Session (including one custom product) is $160.00 for 60 minutes and $100.00 for a Follow-Up Custom Holistic Aromatherapy Session (including one custom product) and can be done in-person or by phone. PICK-UP OF FINISHED PRODUCT IS CLIENT’S RESPONSIBILITY (unless otherwise arranged with me ahead of time).
